The Magma is a rocket stove developed by Ülfi. Compact, robust, and designed from heavy-gauge Corten steel, it was conceived to offer efficient combustion, excellent stability, and a very long service life.
This kit version uses the exact same model as the one developed by Ülfi. All parts are laser-cut in our workshop and ready for assembly. It is up to you to handle the tacking, welding, and finishing.

Assemblies designed for welding
The Magma is not just a collection of cut plates. The parts have been designed with interlocking systems to facilitate their positioning during tacking. Assembly is faster, squaring is easier, and the components remain correctly held in place before welding.

- All Corten steel firebox body parts, laser-cut and interlocking
- The front door with its hinge, ready to weld
- The multi-function ash pan (air intake, ash collection, ignition)
- Stainless steel controls (door handle, air intake control)
- The two-piece 40 cm cooking support
- The 5 mm stainless steel carrying handle

Why choose Corten steel?
Corten is particularly well-suited for outdoor cooking equipment. It naturally develops a protective patina that limits corrosion while giving the product an authentic look. Its excellent durability makes it a material perfectly suited for a rocket stove intended to be left outdoors.
A peculiarity to keep in mind
Corten steel is not painted: it naturally develops a protective patina when exposed to air and moisture. This characteristic applies to the kit version as well, but it has a consequence for welding: Corten requires slightly different settings compared to standard steel (speed, intensity), which should be anticipated if you have never welded this type of steel.
A design born from field experience
Before being offered as a kit, the Magma was designed, manufactured, and tested in our workshop. This is not just a simple laser-cutting project: it is a real cooking product developed by the Ülfi team and then adapted into a kit version for metal fabrication enthusiasts.
All Magma kit parts are cut on our laser machines in our workshop in Romilly-sur-Seine (Aube, France), then inspected before shipping to ensure precise assembly and consistent quality.
FAQ
Are the parts already interlocking?
Yes, the laser-cut interlocking ensures correct positioning before tacking — you do not have to align the parts by hand.
What welding equipment is needed?
A MIG/MAG or TIG welder capable of welding 3 to 5 mm Corten steel is suitable.
I prefer the pre-assembled version, where can I find it?
The pre-assembled, ready-to-use version is available directly from Ülfi.
