A true kit designed for simple welding

A kit table is only useful if the parts can be correctly positioned before welding. This is why the 4A Compact 1200 uses a design with precisely cut parts and various positioning systems that facilitate the placement of the plate and the base.

Kit versions are delivered with holding clamps and threaded rods. These allow the elements to be pressed against each other, maintain the structure during tack welding, and limit movements caused by welding.

1

Plate positioning

The edges and reinforcements are positioned under the plate thanks to the cut-outs, housings, and markings provided during design.

2

Holding in place

Clamps and threaded rods allow the various parts to be pressed together and maintain a consistent assembly during tack welding.

3

Leg assembly with jigs

The supplied jigs fit the square tube to center the upper and lower plates before tack welding and final welding.

4

Progressive welding

The plate and base can then be tack welded and progressively welded, alternating zones to better control thermal deformations.

Controlled flatness: the assembly system allows the various parts to be pressed together before welding, achieving a consistent geometry. As with any welded construction, the final result also depends on adhering to the tack welding order, weld distribution, and heat input control.

A guided base as well

Jigs supplied to position leg plates

Guided assembly doesn't stop at the plate. In the complete weld-it-yourself table kit version, specially cut jigs are also provided to facilitate the positioning of the plates on the square tube legs.

These jigs match the outer shape of the tube to center the plates, keep them aligned with the leg, and simplify tack welding before final welding.

Jig for the upper plate

A first jig allows the upper plate to be positioned and centered on the square tube. This plate is then used to bolt the leg under the table plate.

  • Centered positioning on the tube
  • Plate alignment with the axis
  • Simplified tack welding
  • Consistent assembly of the various legs

Jig for the lower plate

A second jig allows the lower plate to be positioned, located at the other end of the leg and intended to receive the caster.

  • Caster plate centering
  • Alignment with the square tube
  • Simple tack welding before final welding
  • Cleaner and more consistent base

A kit designed for actual assembly: the jigs prevent the customer from having to manually measure and mark the centering of each plate. They allow the same positioning to be reproduced on all legs.

Rigidity is also visible underneath

An internal structure we have nothing to hide

The quality of a welding table is not limited to the number of visible holes on the plate. It also depends on how the work surface is supported and stiffened from underneath.

The 4A Compact 1200 features three longitudinal reinforcements and two transverse reinforcements. This arrangement divides the surface into several rigid zones and improves the overall support of the plate.

  • 3 reinforcements arranged lengthwise
  • 2 reinforcements arranged crosswise
  • 100 mm peripheral edge
  • 6 mm pickled steel internal assembly
  • Homogeneous distribution of support under the work surface

Finish Raw pickled steel, unpainted

Raw steel may exhibit variations in shade, handling marks, superficial marks, or natural signs of oxidation. These elements are inherent to a raw metal product intended for workshop use.

Clamping system

Ø16 mm holes and 50 mm spacing

The work surface is perforated with 16 mm diameter holes, distributed with a regular 50 mm spacing. This grid allows clamping accessories to be positioned at numerous points on the plate.

Clamp and position parts

The holes allow the use of stops, presses, squares, pins, clamps, and accessories adapted to the Ø16 mm system.

Work on top and sides

The peripheral edges are also perforated. You can therefore clamp a part horizontally, vertically, or directly at the edge of the table.

Repeat an assembly

The regular grid facilitates the creation of repetitive setups, simple jigs, and reproducible positions.

Connect multiple tables

Several tables can be brought together and connected using suitable clamping systems to temporarily increase the work surface.

A truly versatile table

For which users and which jobs?

Thanks to its 800 × 1200 mm format, the 4A Compact 1200 offers enough space for most common assemblies without occupying the surface of a large industrial table.

Artisans and small businesses

For locksmith, ironwork, maintenance, metalwork, light welding-fabrication, and custom manufacturing workshops.

Garages and personal workshops

A suitable surface for users who want to improve the precision of their assemblies without installing a very large table.

Schools and training centers

The kit model also allows work on positioning, tack welding, diagonal control, and deformation management.

Examples of uses

  • Assembly of metal frames
  • Fabrication of chassis and supports
  • Welding of steel furniture
  • Production of gates and small structures
  • Positioning of squares and welded-fabricated parts
  • Tack welding and inspection before final welding
  • Creation of repetitive jigs
  • Repair and maintenance work
Optimized design

Why is the 4A Compact 1200 more affordable?

The more contained price of this table is not based on the use of thinner sheet metal or the removal of essential reinforcements. It mainly results from optimizing the format, the height of the edges, the number of elements, and the possibility of delivery as a kit.

A rational format

The 800 × 1200 mm tabletop meets many common uses while requiring less material than a 900 × 1800 mm or larger table.

A 100 mm edge

Shorter than the 150 mm edge of our large models, it retains lateral clamping possibilities while lightening the design.

A self-weld version

Customers already equipped with a welding machine can assemble it themselves and save on manufacturing time spent in our workshops.

Direct from the manufacturer

The table is designed, cut, and prepared by 4A Métal, without multiplying intermediaries between the manufacturer and the user.

What remains the same: 6 mm S235JR pickled steel, laser cutting, Ø16 mm drilling, 50 mm center distance, reinforced structure, French manufacturing, and availability as a kit or welded.

More compact, still functional

A 100 mm peripheral edge

The peripheral edge contributes to the overall rigidity and allows the use of clamping accessories on all four sides of the table.

On the 4A Compact range, its height is reduced to 100 mm, compared to 150 mm on several of our larger models. This difference reduces the amount of material and the weight of the tabletop while maintaining a real perforated structural belt.

  • Clamping possible on all four sides
  • Easier access under the edge of the tabletop
  • Visually more compact structure
  • Reduced weight compared to a 150 mm edge
  • Maintained reinforced work surface

Discover 4A Métal welding tables in video

We show our products as they are actually manufactured and used: cutting, assembly, welding, mounting, and workshop work.

From raw metal to finished product

A table designed and manufactured in France

The 4A Compact 1200 is developed by 4A Métal and manufactured in our workshops in Romilly-sur-Seine, in the Aube department.

We internally master the main manufacturing steps: file preparation, nesting, laser cutting, adjustment, welding, and control of the prepared assemblies.

Precise laser cutting

The different parts are cut on our fiber laser machine to obtain regular shapes and consistent positioning during assembly.

S235JR pickled steel

The pickled surface is cleaner and more homogeneous than that of black steel covered with thick mill scale, which facilitates preparation and welding.

Controlled design

The position of the holes, reinforcements, legs, plates, and mounting systems is defined in our own manufacturing files.

Direct from the workshop

You buy your table directly from the company that designs and manufactures it.

Raw steel

Protection and maintenance of your table

The table is delivered in raw pickled steel. Unprotected steel can naturally oxidize in contact with humidity, condensation, or water splashes.

To limit the appearance of superficial corrosion, we recommend keeping the table in a dry place, regularly cleaning the surface, and applying protection suitable for welding tables.

  • Avoid outdoor storage or in a humid environment
  • Quickly wipe off water and liquids on the tabletop
  • Remove projections with a suitable tool
  • Maintain the holes to ensure smooth clamping
  • Periodically apply a compatible anti-corrosion protection
Frequently asked questions

FAQ – 800 × 1200 mm welding table

What is the difference between the four configurations?

The tabletop kit is delivered in parts to be welded. The welded tabletop is assembled in our workshops, without legs. The complete table kit includes the tabletop, legs, plates, castors, and screws, but requires welding. The complete welded table is prepared in the workshop and only requires the bolted assembly of the elements provided for this purpose.

Is the tabletop really 6 mm thick?

Yes. The tabletop and the main elements of its structure are made of 6 mm S235JR pickled steel.

What is the diameter of the holes?

The holes have a diameter of 16 mm. They are distributed with a 50 mm center distance on the tabletop and on the peripheral edges.

What accessories can be used?

The table is designed to accommodate accessories suitable for the Ø16 mm system: stops, clamps, C-clamps, squares, pins, and other clamping elements. Check the exact dimensions of the accessories before purchase.

Can several tables be connected together?

Yes. Several tables can be aligned and connected using suitable clamping systems. This allows for the temporary creation of a longer or wider work surface.

Is the kit table difficult to weld?

The design has been thought out to facilitate the positioning of the elements. The clamps, threaded rods, and templates provided help hold the parts before tack welding. However, a good understanding of basic welding is still necessary to limit deformation.

How to achieve good flatness during assembly?

You need to work on a stable support, check the diagonals, clamp the parts with the holding systems, perform distributed tack welding, and then alternate welding zones. It is not recommended to fully weld one zone before moving to the next.

How to correctly position the plates on the legs?

The complete table kit is delivered with positioning templates specially cut to fit the square tube of the legs.

A first template allows centering the upper plate, intended to be bolted under the tabletop. A second allows centering the lower plate, intended to receive the castor.

This system facilitates holding the plates in line with the tube during tack welding and allows for a clean and regular leg assembly.

Are the assembly templates included in all versions?

The plate positioning templates are supplied with the complete kit version to be welded. They are not necessary for the complete welded version, as the legs and their plates are already prepared in our workshops.

Why is the edge 100 mm?

The 100 mm edge allows for maintaining a perforated structural belt and lateral clamping possibilities, while reducing the amount of material and weight compared to a 150 mm edge.

Is the table delivered painted?

No. The table is delivered in raw pickled steel. This finish is suitable for workshop use, but the steel must be protected and maintained to limit oxidation.

Who is this welding table for?

It is suitable for artisans, small businesses, blacksmiths, locksmiths, mechanics, training centers, makers, and equipped individuals who want to work on a rigid and organized clamping surface.

Where is the table manufactured?

The table is designed and manufactured by 4A Métal in our workshops in Romilly-sur-Seine, in the Aube department.

Why choose the 800 × 1200 mm format?

This format offers a good balance between work surface and footprint. It allows for many common assemblies while remaining suitable for more compact workshops, garages, and workspaces.
